Thursday at Sustainable Minerals '23

The final day of the conference opened with a keynote lecture from Prof. Jannie Van Deventer, CEO of Zeobond, Australia, who was recently ranked #2 in the world in mining and metallurgy research (posting of 17 December 2020).

He discussed the adoption of new technology to decarbonise cement and concrete, and this was followed by an eclectic mix of presentations on environmental aspects- particularly tailings, water and remediation.

At the end of the day, before our traditional Cornish Cream Tea, Amanda Wills invited everyone to join us in Cape Town in November next year for Critical Minerals '24, a more focused alternative to the Sustainable Minerals series.

On behalf of all of us at MEI, thanks to Steinert and Promet101 for sponsoring this small event, and to our Media Partners International Mining and Minerals Engineering, and our Industry Advocates the Coalition for Eco-Efficient Comminution (CEEC) and the Critical Minerals Association

I also thank our delegates for their understanding regarding the printed conference brochures, which should have been delivered by the abysmal FedEx days prior to the conference but never materialised!

The next MEI conference is Flotation '23, which will be in Cape Town in November.
