The final day of Biomining '23 got underway yesterday morning with a keynote lecture from Karen Hudson-Edwards, Professor in Sustainable Mining at the Camborne School of Mines, who reviewed the biomining of copper and other technology metals. Then after a full day of presentations MEI's conference consultant, Prof. Sue Harrison, of the University of Cape Town, summarised the conference, after which MEI's Amanda Wills invited everyone to Biomining '25, which will be held in Cape Town in two years time, and to a farewell Cornish Cream Tea. It was good to see everyone abiding by the Cornish tradition of jam first, cream last, unlike the Devonians just across the border who do the opposite!
As we said farewell to the Biomining delegates we welcomed the early arrivals to Sustainable Minerals '23, which also runs for two days, beginning today.
