Sunday in Cape Town

An extremely hot day today in Cape Town, and a week of comminution began with two half-day workshops prior to tomorrow's conference. In the first of these the Chairman of the Coalition for Eco-Efficient Comminution (CEEC) and one of the conference keynote speakers, Joe Pease, and Grant Ballantyne of the JKMRC, reviewed the practices available to improve processing efficiency, from mining operations through to mineral processing and smelting. Grant is the developer of the comminution energy curves, now actively promoted by CEEC, and will speak more of these at the conference.
The afternoon workshop was presented by Rob McIvor, of Metcom Technologies, USA. Rob is an industry advocate for CEEC, and is also a keynote speaker later in the week. His workshop was aimed at plant metallurgical staff and management, grinding circuit equipment and material suppliers, and others interested in industrial circuit design and optimisation including circuit designers and researchers.

And to end the day, a late afternoon welcoming wine reception for Comminution '16 gave delegates the chance to pre-register, get to know each other and take a first look at the exhibits.
All set for a great week to come!
