Cambridge: what a place!

Barbara and I arrived in Cambridge late afternoon after a long train journey from Falmouth, and after a quick rest and shower strolled into the city by the bank of the swollen River Cam. After a meal in a nearby Italian restaurant we absorbed the atmosphere of this historic old University city and its splendid halls and colleges, before calling for a nightcap at the Eagle pub. And what a pub! A favourite haunt of RAF flyers in WW2, we sat in the very spot where Crick and Watson announced in 1953 their discovery of the structure of DNA, and chatted to Cambridge University rugby coaching legend Tony Rogers.
We have only been here a few hours, and love the place already. Looking forward to the next couple of days at the IOM3 conference at Trinity Hall.
