Minerals Engineers group now exceeds 2000 members

I am pleased to announce that MEI's LinkedIn group Minerals Engineers welcomed its 2000th member today.

This has become a very dynamic group, with many active discussions, so well worth joining if you have not already done so.

  1. You join MEI and you will never walk alone.

  2. I'm a member of quite a few Mining/Minerals type groups on LinkedIn, and the thing that makes Minerals Engineers stand out from the rest is the moderation of the group. I'm fed up of seeing discussions on LinkedIn groups which have nothing to do with the group and are pure spam. This never occurs on Minerals Engineers!

  3. Thanks Amanda. I think moderation of discussions is essential, if only to move some of the submissions into Promotions or Jobs. Once a discussion is approved, members are free to comment without moderation, although if a comment is totally irrelevant I have the option of removing it.  Comments from non-members of the group are moderated before acceptance.

What group owners must not be afraid of is rejecting applications to join their groups. Minerals Engineers could currently have well over 3000 members but I reject many applicants who do not satisfy the simple criterion that they should be capable of contributing to discussions on minerals engineering topics, or to post relevant job vacancies.
